Right now, the Tassimo LCD Premium T65 is the top-of-the-line machine in the Tassimo coffee maker series. It has the most features, though it maintains simple operation through the use of bar codes on the coffee pods.
As a single-serve coffee brewer, the Tassimo coffee maker can only brew coffee using the Tassimo T-Disc style of pre-made plastic coffee pods. Each one makes one cup of coffee, and you brew them up as needed, rather than the conventional way of brewing a whole pot with loose grounds. The T-Discs are unique because each one has a bar-code on the top that is read by the machine. It knows what kind of drink you are brewing, and will adjust the settings to suit. So you will get a perfect cup whether you are making dark roast coffee or light green tea.
With the milk pods, you can even use the Tassimo LCD Premium to make creamy drinks like cappuccinos and lattes.
You just put in the pod, close the machine and within about a minute you will have a fresh cup of coffee. The Tassimo LCD display screen will walk you through the steps and let you know what part of the cycle the machine is on. The control panel is multi-lingual if you prefer the instructions in something other than English. While it is brewing, you can override the standard controls a little and either make a smaller or larger cup (which means stronger or weaker). This isn't necessary though, so you can just use the standard settings with no input from you.
The Tassimo T65 is around the same size as the other Tassimo models, and it measures in at 11" high x 8" wide x 13.3" deep. Not bad for a whole coffee shop. The water tank will hold 67 oz, and there is a Mavea water filter system to purify the water for a cleaner taste when brewing. this model of Tassimo only comes in one color scheme, the usual grey and black.
Like with the other Tassimo Brewbots, the cup holder is adjustable so you can make room for larger coffee cups or travel mugs (you brew right into your cup, not a pot or carafe). Because these machines make a single cup at a time, you cannot program them to run at a pre-determined time and there is no warming plate.
When the inside of the machine needs to be cleaned, there is an automatic cycle for de-scaling and the control panel will let you know when it is necessary to do so.
Though this is the most expensive Tassimo model, it is still perfectly suited for your typical kitchen. It's a home use machine that could also be used in the coffee room of a small (2 to 4 people) office if you want a better coffee-brewing option. When you buy the Tassimo T65 LCD Premium, you usually get a starter package with a mix of Tassimo T-Discs so you can try out the varieties before needing to get more.
